Wherever possible and meaningful, CLAYTEC seeks to collaborate with people and institutions which share our goals. We are a member of central federal specialist associations which kick off developments and shape the future. This allows us to remain involved in clay construction, building biology, and construction technology in monument conservation.
Dachverband Lehm e.V., Weimar (DVL) was founded in 1992 in Kiel. Interested institutions and persons came together with the goal of jointly promoting clay construction. The DVL pursues ambitious goals. In addition to information and international network-building, this also includes vocational training in clay construction and the development of binding regulations and standards.
CLAYTEC is a founding member of the DVL. The company supports the association via collaboration on the board and in all major projects. Above all, this also includes the development of a concept for qualification as a Clay Construction Expert. It is meant for trained construction craftsmen or experienced clay builders. After passing the exam, they have the option of having the qualification recognised by the local chamber of crafts. This allows an entry to be added to the craftsmen's register and a company to be founded.
CLAYTEC also has authoritative representation in another DVL core project, standardisation. Together with Ulrich Röhlen, the technical manager of CLAYTEC, the architect and clay building pioneer Franz Volhard wrote the text of the first Clay Construction Rules (Lehmbau Regeln)in 1996. In 1998, it was added to the specimen list for technical building regulations of the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (DIBT). In September 2011, the DVL was the initiator of the working committee NA 005-06-08 AA "Clay Construction" at the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). Under the leadership of Christof Ziegert and Ulrich Röhlen, the committee developed product and inspection standards for adobe, clay masonry mortar, and clay panels. The current standards were published in December 2018.
VDB
CLAYTEC has been a member of Berufsverband Deutscher Baubiologen e.V. (VDB) since 2008. Among other things, the VDB is a platform for expert discussions on the health aspects of construction. CLAYTEC greatly values being aware of current developments in building biology and taking them into account. Furthermore, together with association members of the VDB, important studies on the impact of clay building materials are carried out.
